The Padron 1926 Anniversario 80th Maduro cigar got the No. 2 Ranking in 2008 by Cigar Aficionado in 2008. This is pretty odd considering that Padron and other cuban cigars have often held the No. 1 spot in Cigar Aficionado's rankings. However, toppled by Fonsecas Casa Magna, Padron takes the No. 2 spot despite it's typical first place prize. This cigar was meant to celebrate the birthday of Jose Orlando Padron, the found of Padron cigars. This is just one line in a series of the 1926 Serie cigars that are some of the most popular cigars made today. The price is considered high to most customers, but for the few cigar smokers that don't care about price these are some of the most smoked cigars from the humidor.

The only way to describe this cigar is complex. There's nothing simple about it! That's what makes it such a great cigar though. There's only one way to make such a great cigar and thats with properly grown, seasoned, and aged tobacco. Because Padron has been aging leaves for over 40 years, you can imagine what kind of inventory they have for tobacco. This aged tobacco is used for the Padron Serie 1926 lines. To be honest, it's not going to be easy to find a cigar comparable to the 1926 Serie Padron line. You're looking for a Nicaraguan puro (filler, binder & wrapper) with a perfecto shape that's nearly 7 inches x 54 in ring guage. This isn't something you run across all the time in your standard cigar shop. However, if you want something close we would recommend the Rocky Patel 1990 Vintage series. We're convinced that Rocky Patel fashioned this line after the Padron 1926 Series, but that's simply our opinion. However, because the price is so much lower and the flavors are so similar we'd highly suggest you give it a try. It's likely that you will come to the same conclusion we have - they're both fantastic cigars!
